Chronic Pain Management

When The Pain Won't Stop

Chronic Pain Management

Chronic Pain Management is when your pain reaches the stage where the pain just won't let you alone. Definitions vary, but this can be anywhere from three weeks to six months. Pain can be debilitating and self-defeating in that the more you hurt, the more likely you are to cease activity, this lack of activity only compounds this vicious cycle which will eventually lead to even more pain.

Chronic Pain Management does take a coordinated effort. For those with rheumatoid arthritis it might be necessary to take prescription medication to reduce inflammation, which then should reduce the pain. For people with osteoarthritis, many over-the-counter medications such as the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDS) can offer relief.

But there are plenty of non-medicinal options for chronic pain management. Pain can be caused by much more than just inflammation. Chronic pain is also the result of certain joint movements, lack of physical well-being or strength, and joint stress. Address these issues and pain can be relieved or at least minimized without the use of drugs.

Reducing the use of drugs is very important with chronic pain management because if you need to have lots of drugs all the time, you have no management at all.
